- עֲתִירָהII (עָתַר to dig, stir; trnsf. to entreat, beseech; cmp. פָּגַע, פָּצַר) entreaty, being entreated, use of the root עתר. Pesik. R. s. 11 (ref. to Gen. 25:21; a. 2 Sam. 21:14) מה ע׳ שנאמר להלן תאומים אף ע׳וכ׳ as ‘being entreated there refers to the grant of twins, so it does here (double fertility).
